Psychotherapy is the treatment of disorders of emotion and personality by psychological methods, involving the exploration of thoughts, feelings and behaviour for the purpose of problem solving and achieving better levels of functioning.
A thoughtful and considered solution is sought to address the client's difficulties by the practitioner in a safe space. With sympathetic listening coupled with skillful and sensitive questioning, a joint effort is undertaken between client and practitioner to go back to the beginning of the problem to help gain clarity and insight.
